Join Our Team as a Registered Nurse – Surgery RN in Edmonds, WA

We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Surgery to join our dynamic team in Edmonds, WA. Shift & Schedule

  • Day Shift: 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts
  • Working hours: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Requirements & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • Proficient with Epic charting system; experience with EPIC HARDSTOP is required
  • Valid ACLS certification (required) and BLS certification
  • No travel experience required; first-time travelers should be aware of call out procedures
  • Strong surgical nursing skills including, but not limited to:
    • Gynecology: Abdominal/vaginal hysterectomy, anterior/posterior repair (colporrhaphy), bilateral tubal ligation, dilation & curettage, laparoscopic assisted procedures
    • General Surgery: Appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, inguinal/umbilical hernia repair, laparoscopic assisted procedures, partial/total thyroidectomy, Whipple procedure
    • Orthopedic: Arthroscopy, closed reduction of fractures, laminectomy/discectomy, open reduction of fractures, total joint replacement
    • Neurology: Laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion
    • Ear/Nose/Throat: Laryngectomy, radical neck dissection, tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, tracheostomy
    • Vascular: Scrub vascular surgery
    • Experience working in a general Operating Room (OR) setting

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing various surgical procedures in the Surgery RN unit
  • Prepare and maintain the operating room environment to ensure patient safety and protocol compliance
  • Assist surgeons during surgical procedures using sterile techniques and proper instrumentation
  • Monitor patient status before, during, and after surgery, promptly addressing any changes or concerns
  • Accurately document all aspects of patient care utilizing the Epic electronic health record system
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary surgical teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Adhere strictly to hospital policies, OSHA, and JCAHO standards for surgical nursing practice
  • Participate in patient and family education regarding preoperative and postoperative care instructions

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Washington
  • At least 2 years of relevant surgical nursing experience
  • Current ACLS and BLS certification
  • Proficiency with Epic charting system and EPIC HARDSTOP functionality
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality care
